Salona has taken Vacuum infusion to the next level
Constant search for improvements and raising the quality of our boats resulted in cooperation with french expert Noel to instruct and guide our workers to excel vacuum infusion process. Salona Shipyard started with vacuum infusion back in 2007, as a pioneer in approaching new techniques.
The Vacuum Infusion Process (VIP) is a technique that uses vacuum pressure to drive resin into a laminate. Materials are laid dry into the mold and the vacuum is applied before resin is introduced. Once a complete vacuum is achieved, resin is literally sucked into the laminate via carefully placed tubing. This process is aided by an assortment of supplies and materials. Some benefits of using Vacuum Infusion are: perfect fiber-to-resin ratio, very consistent resin usage, optimum strength and weight.
